Rodenstock makes 3 different Apo Rodagon D models:

- 75mm f4 M1:1 (what I call the 75ARD1)
- 75mm f4.5 M=2 (what I call the 75ARD2)
- 120mm f5.6 (hereafter known as 120ARD)

I've never seen one of these for sale, new or used, so seeing this one on ebay (UK) is very interesting:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/27091338612....m1438.l2649

I have no idea how well it will work for coins. From the data sheet, while the 75ARDX are optimized at their respective magnifications, and spec'd from half to double the optimum range, the 120ARD is just spec'd from M=0.2x...5x, centered at 1x like the 75ARD1. Note that the 75ARD2 is not as sharp as the 75ARD1, so there is no guarantee the 120ARD will be either.

120mm is a bit longer than I can use in my setups without modifications, so I have only limited interest in the lens. That said, I DID put in a low offer on it, but the seller countered so I'm not going to buy it. If any of you have deep pockets, you might want to pick this up and see how well it will work for coins. If you do, post your results!

At $450 or so,
I, not going to bid....
I have had great results from PEAK size 135MM old stock lenses.......As ray has noted..When going beyond ...persay
105MM for coins..say silver dollars...COINS for interest..its not that the lens does not not have any value, but rather
its not applicable for our intended usage...
