Nice - I've been looking at these a lot more recently - I really want something related to Ricimer but have no idea what that would cost. I just like the fact he was, for the want of a better term, a 'puppet master' at the death of the Eastern Empire.

Thanks bobby! I did a search on coins related to Ricimer and found only two, both of Libius Severus. One at around $160, and the other at a little under $1000! Both tiny poor condition bronzes (although the under $1000 coin looks kind of decent, considering the coins from this period). Unfortunately bronze coins of the Western emperors after Valentinian III cost quite a bit of cash.

Which leads me to this question: has anyone ever found mid-late 5th century Roman coins (those of emperors after Honorius) in uncleaned lots?

Got it today!
Finally-Got-A-Marcian!
(Its late afternoon here, so the sunlight wasn't too good for taking photos. It's way better in hand.)

I tried to position the obverse so what I thought was 12 o clock would be right at the top, but somehow it got tilted counterclockwise a bit.

I'm not going to attempt to clean it. I don't want to ruin it.

It's great when a coin arrives looking better than the pic--congrats!
Judging by the prices I saw on Vcoins, $14 is a very nice deal.
