I wonder if most coin collectors like to use cash for transactions to sort through the change. My initial thought is "yes" but I rarely use cash for transactions. I like the convenience of a quick swipe of a card. I really never liked accumulating change and I wasn't thrilled when they switched from notes to the loonie and toonie since it was easier to carry notes in my wallet rather than a pocket full of change. I thoroughly enjoy collecting both notes and coins, but just don't enjoy using them day to day. Just wondering if I am an anomaly in the collector world!

I'm strictly a cash person, being fairly young (27) its very uncommon to see. my credit card is for emergency's only, I buy all my bullion and coins in cash.

I put my credit card away for emergencies also. It got me into trouble before...lesson learned...the hard way!
So, yes, I prefer to use cash when I can...debit when I can't.

I used to use my card for everything - I rarely had any cash on me at all. When I started collecting again, yes I switched to cash for most small purchases, just to look through the change.

I use my credit card almost exclusively, but pay it off every month. Get to collect points that way. However, I always try to carry some cash with me to use for smaller purchases or with smaller merchants to help them avoid credit card costs. And I always use cash to buy bullion at my LCS.
Last year I got silver in my change twice within two weeks! I got a '65 quarter, and then two weeks later I got a '58 dime. Both pretty beat up, but hey I can't complain. It's probably been 10 years since I've gotten silver in my change before that, and it might be another 10 until I see some again! So I guess that's an argument to do more cash transactions!

I use cash. Most of the coin shops I visit will not take credit cards for bullion transactions. It would be nice though because I have a cash back card and that would add up over time.

I never carry any kind of cash on me unless it comes from people for whom I've purchased something with my credit card and I'm on my way to deposit it into my bank account or unless I'm headed to a place where I know/suspect they don't accept credit cards or they charge a fee for credit card transactions. I use my credit card in every case possible, love the reward points :D

I purposely break my bills wherever I go so that I can get change to look at. I will drop a $20 for a coffee just to see what I get.

For me if it's over 20$ I pay with my credit card, I can exchange my points for cash on my mortgage. if under 20$ then I use cash.

I use cash for everything. In fact I have never activated my debit card. I pay for everything with a bill to get the change, anything worth keeping goes to the collection and everything else goes into a jar. I save up the change in the jar for any special things I want. I bought my 46" TV, and my DSLR camera last year with change.
