I received this in the mail a few days ago and photographed it. I did not even notice that it was a 1971-S EISENHOWER PARTIAL PEG LEG PROOF Link to Ike Group article http://www.ikegroup.org/PPLSEPT08.htmThanks to one of our members here recognizing it. This particular coin will not be regulated to storage with without the proper designation. THANK YOU cc99999 I thought that I would share this with the rest of the Error and Variety Group. Things are getting VERY exciting in the Eisenhower Series. And as a collector that I have a lot of respect for told me recently "Cherry the heck out of them while you can!"Well below are the pictures of the latest Cherry to be put into the pie.

Awesome bonus when you get a coin like that!
It pays to look over the coins in detail when you get them, since others could have easily missed it or never thought to look for it.

Actually,
I just picked one of these myself. It's a beautiful coin- untoned (although, given my druthers, I like your Ike more. My piece is probably going to grade out PR-69 but it is not a cameo (the back is fully brilliant). At PR-69 it's probably a 300 dollar coin. Yours might be a little more desirable- if you find that toning fan. If you can stand slabbing it, I'd send it to ANACS.

WTG Terry! Beautiful PPL! Nice thin base on the G and upper part of the O. How's the loop on the 9- got nice separation there also? cc99999: I checked with ANACS last year about attribution of my 1971S PPL and they said they will only state on the label that it's a Peg-leg. They will not attribute it as a " Partial" Peg Leg on the label Terry, Maybe the best thing is to have it attributed "DIVA" by the Ike Group.

Thanks Guys, If I do decide to send it in to get a number assigned to it. I would more than likely send it to ANACS for a grade and Peg Leg designation, Then send it to Rob Ezerman for the PPL DIVA designation. But there is one thing I have an awfully hard time doing is removing proof Ike's from their original Government holders. Over the years that I have been collecting them. I have noticed that Brown Box Ike's get cracked out of their plastic at a tremendous pace. Just one dealer here in the town where I live cracks out every one that he gets to list them on ebay and put them in the shop. We were discussing it one day, and he said he has hundreds of empty Brown Box packages back in his dumpster every month. He also told me about he had heard that someone had designed a small machine to more efficiently crack them out of the plastic. A light bulb went off, If just one coin shop is cracking them out by the hundreds a month and there is a small machine or machines out there cracking them out by who knows how many a month. How long before the ones in the Original Government Packaging become de-populated I like to keep mine in the Original Government Packaging for my son and the children he has someday. Unless it ends up being a Very Rare Variety and I need to sell it for some cash. I could send it in then. But once I crack it out, It can not be put back to original. Just another weird train of thought, I tend to get them more and more as I get older Not sure yet if it is a good thing or a bad thing Terry

After I posted yesterday, I was thinking the very same thing you just said Terry!
Get the PPL Proof graded/attributed with ANACS as a peg leg, then let Rob etc attribute as a DIVA PPL Proof! Glad you thought of that!
Regarding the plastic holders, is there damage being caused to the coins inside these, like they say the blue pack Ike's are causing and that's why they are being cracked out?
I do see alot of cloudiness etc on these brown box Ikes.
I'm down to just one 1973S Proof Brown Box Ike, so I'm leaving it as is.
Chuck.

I was wondering in your opinion Chuck do you think the cloudiness is milk spotting? Just looking for opinions. a few months back while looking at a new coin and talking to Rob Ezerman in the other forum I had one of those AH HA moments on the milk spotting issue that is so prevalent on a lot of coins. In particular the Ike's.
PS Have you seen the guy Golfing on the Moon Yet?

Terry, I really don't know if the cloudiness on these are just from "milk spots" (AKA condensation caused by someone at the U.S. Mint sneezing on the coin etc) or is it massive condensation that has seeped into the plastic holder over time after leaving the US Mint?
Man golfing on the moon? Nope, missed that one, got any pics?
Chuck.
