I collected trading cards for about twenty years before I started collecting coins. I mainly collected football and basketball cards. A couple years ago realizing that I can not collect cards and coins put the cards in storage.

DM1975, It might interest you to know I just fed my 13 year old CB corn snake a chipmonk I caught in the wood shed. Nice big meal for the old dude. What snakes do you have?

Quote: "I have a huge collection of car brochures. Been gathering brochures on every vehicle sold in the USA and Canada since 1969. I visit car swap meets and buy older brochures. My collection dates back to the 1920's now." I could move that back at least a decade. I used to attend car shows on a regular basis until back and leg injury diminished my ability to do the walking and heavy lifting. I am about to start selling off my modest accumulation of auto literature, most of which dates from before the 1950's. And I should probably cut back on my rock and mineral collecting to spare what back strength I have remaining. I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned the "World's Most Pleasurable Hobby", license plate collecting! This is a huge realm and it's still an equal opportunity hobby, meaning anyone curious enough to poke around in forgotten places has the chance of making a rare discovery worth thousands. If it were not for the successes I have had in this overlooked niche of automotive culture, I would not be able to afford to collect coins. Oh, and I suppose I should add: old woodworking tools (I use them); vintage vinyl (never get tired of hearing the classics); antique cigar boxes (nice for storing coins, crystals, whatever small things you like).

I don't have other things that I "collect" as a hobby but I do have 2 other hobbies. I raise, train, and show my golden retriever female in agility and obedience. I also raise dart frogs that are about the size of your thumbnail.

Wow, I can't believe all the people that replied to this post. Thanks. I forgot a few things. I too have a small collection of firearms...you know, just in case? Here in PA, gun laws are pretty awesome I also have a collection of German Shepherd teeth. They are attached to my dog, also, just in case. And, my last thing, a small collection of comic books that I started in middle school. I was active for a few years. Josh

MOPAR BABY! The first picture reminds me of the car my friend Tony "Stony" drove us all to high school together in. Black with Thrush exhaust, 8 track and not nearly as nice as yours. Could hear him coming from 1/2 a mile away.
In addition to the coins, I have a stamp collection (inactive currently) from when I was a kid. I also completed my 1973 Topps Baseball set a few years ago but haven't really done anything else there either recently. It's pretty cool though.

Sorry to hear about your health issues and how is curtailed your collecting. I have so much of this stuff that I've been tempted to stop or just focus on domestic cars, but it's so deeply ingrained in me and I'll be collecting brochures until I die. Let my family take care of the hassle of what to do with it after I'm gone. A good friend of mine from Tennessee is big into license plate collecting like you are. I've sent him North Dakota and Minnesota plates from time to time. Great minds think alike!

You guys make me feel weird because I've never collected anything before I got into spot priced bullion and other cheap coins.
But now that I think about it, I have never passed a shiny piece of metal on the ground without picking it up. Not gum or cigarette wrappers or bottle caps, but I have filled many old margarine tubs with washers, bolts, lugnuts, odd sockets, odd bits of wire, train spikes and the like from the sidewalks, streets and parking lots. One of my friends said I'm like a crow.
