Everyone, it's not a Cud! It's a variety. A Cud is a die that is the result of a breaking working die, just like a die crack. This is a variety. A good & very interesting one at that.

Any theories of how this has happened ? My theory is that there was gas/air trapped in the planchets, when the coin was struck the gas/air has to escape somewhere so it finds the weakest part of the planchet or die to get out. Sounds like a good theory huh ? what do you reckon ?

I wouldve thought that if it was a gas bubble it wouldnt be in exactly the same spot each time. I dont have a better theory though.

I'd say that whatever caused the ring had to be on the die. The little ring is raised above the surrounding area, so there would have to be an incuse ring in the die to cause a raised ring on the coin. So....I reckon there was a weak spot on the die and after a certain number of coins had been minted, it gave way. These are my two coins with as much magnification of the ring as I can get with my scope.

Quote: a bubble in the die so to speak? Yeah, I guess it would have been, but only the outer edge of it came away. It's just a theory, so until someone comes up with a more detailed explanation that makes sense, I'm happy with what's been discussed so far. Quote: Have not found any in the last 3 bags ($300) Bad luck! I reckon there's a stash of them out there somewhere just waiting to be let loose. Keep up the good work! Hey larena, I'm in Brisbane, what part of Oz are you in?

Bundaberg...can you please ship me some: 1) Bundaberg Royal Liqueur? 2) Bundaberg Master Distillers': 10 Year & 3) Bundaberg Master Distillers': Port That is if you're close to the Bundaberg factory? Please email me. They're the only bits of my Bundaberg collection that I'm yet to try. I'd be looking at 1-2 bottles of each & they don't ship those anywhere.

I should take some photo's. Just like the RAM, some of my bottles are numbered. I can only assume most have been drunk. But they're a lot more expensive on ebay than I paid for a few of them three or four odd years ago. The joys of limited editions. I know one of them has a radar serial which was a very lucky pick-up. I'll try & get some shots on.
