I just looked at several dozen 2012 ASE's, NGC and PCGS 69 and 70s (from a MAJOR seller).
They included SF and WP mints, First Strike, Early Release and regular labels.

Very disappointed in the quality of all, even the MS 70's from the major TPGs. Never did see one I thought was a perfect 70.

Anyone else notice this? Anyone got a perfect 2012?

What type of quality issues were you seeing? Hard to imagine what could be the problem with a MS70 graded coin (unless it was a problem the photograph).

And yes, I care. Deeply.

I am not really into slabbed coins so when I buy ASE's it is almost always as an investment (in hopes that the price of silver will go up in the future) as these can be had for just a few dollars over spot.

How about some images? To let the jury decide!

Either I'm too picky or these types of imperfections should be expected on the large majority of bullion strikes. Its just if I'm paying for a 70, I expect a 70. a 69 should not be far off.

Look at the large photos provided: especially lower reverse 'One Dollar' on this one.

Spotting and there appears to be a chip or lump on obv midway down the center of the dress. Reverse appears to have spotting also unless its on the slab, but there is an unusual look to the silver finish on the reverse bottom, near 'Silver -One'

Here is a good one, look behind the obverse right leg where the leg meets the field.

I much prefer the raw also, but you never know what you are going to get until you get it. Perhaps I'm just a perfectionist and expecting too much. Just venting I guess.

I just buy eagles because I like them and because of their silver content. I'm not interested in paying up for coins with an MS 69 or 70 sticker....

I just have raw ASE's and the 2012 that I got from a member here is at least a 69 and I am happy with it.

One more then I'll hush, look at the T in LIBERTY obverse and STATES AND FINE on the reverse. It sure looks like hits to me.
