So, long story short, I know nothing about this coin besides that it measures 38.5 mm and weighs 31.4 grams. It's not listed in my Krause and a quick Google search yielded nothing. Any info on this mysterious coin is appreciated.

On to the pics:

If you look at the queen you can tell it is not the official effigy by Raphael David Maklouf - spaghetti for the hair, the face is wrong. Compare these side by side:

My take on it is that your "coin" was not officially authorized by the government of Solomon Isl. but it is rather some private issue, and that would be the reason it's missing in the Krause.

Interesting... thanks for the comparison, it is clearly different.

I wonder if it's silver? The look and heft of it leads me to believe it is.

UPDATE: Just found another Solomon Isl. 10 Dollar that uses the same Queen Elizabeth II effigy as my coin. This one is listed in Krause as KM#48 (consisting of 31.42 grams of .925 silver).

This would mean mine is not a private issue, despite not being listed in Krause...

Yeah--odd, especially since the bust's truncation bears his initials.
Florence Nightingale needs to look after the queen's eye.

Then my guess would be that those coins were done by different mints, with the cheaper one(s) using their own freestyle rendition of Maklouf, not to pay the big boys for the copyrighted work.
The Krause issue? Beats me!

Proofs from the 70s- early 80s look faithful, but not these. I would also guess a cheaper contractor made them--the Royal Mint would never render QEII like that. If anything, it shows how much skill is behind a good portrait.
