Hi Folks Have a question in regards to a 1977 coin?. Been going through some foreign coins that I came into possession of. Is this a coin, token or a commemorative coin. I know the finish should tell me it's a commemorative or token but just want to be sure. Thanks for any info. Identified - moved to World Coins forum - Sap

It's real, it's 90% silver and KM# 94.1. Krause is out of date with prices on these, but mine gives $12 Unc, $14 Bu

Its worth more than that in silver alone.
They are fairly common, even in higher grades, so I would expect melt is about right.

That coin is indeed very common. 1980 has only been released in the set and is more difficult to find. This design has been very popular and been used since 1996.

I believe he meant 1796. The first 5 francs pieces with this design were dated L'AN 4 in Paris, which was rather 1795. Few more mints struck the coin with the date L'AN 5 in 1796.
