I found this penny and wondered why anyone would go through the trouble. It weighs 1 gram and appears to be hollowed out.

What is it?

I remember. A few spy pictures from the 40s & 50s featured hollowed out coins to move secrets.

Thanks for the answers everyone.

This leads me to my next question, Isn't it illegal to counterfeit coins, or deface government property?
