I was looking over a bunch of Connecticut quarters and got to thinking about if there were enough coins made to create any die cracks. Any thoughts on this?

I obviously thought that of all the coins the Connecticut quarter would have the best chance of showing some type of wear on the die.

Die cracks are common, so I would be surprised if any State Quarter went entirely crack free for its entire run.

I have searched hundreds of UNC rolls of State Quarters.
Quite often I would find rolls that would have several
coins with minor die cracks also die chips and filled letters. In my experience the most common die crack is
at the bottom left of Washington's bust and working toward the rim.

I have found die cracks on the State Quarters too and they are almost always at the bottom left of Washington's bust and working toward the rim too. Kind of strange why it is so common in that same place.

The truncation of the bust and the leading edge of the wings on pre-1999 quarters are inherent points of weakness in the die design. You will see cracks repeated in those areas across a large cross-section of the Washington quarter mintage.

So the part of the bust sticking out causes a weakness in the die?

Then why don't they change the design to make the die last longer?

I don't understand why the Mint gave the reverse a new design for so many years, but never upgraded the bust of Washington. Another reason out of many, why we need someone running the Mint, knowing what they are doing.
