I thought it would be fun to see which modern (i.e., NCLT) commemorative silver dollars are the favorites among CCF members. Any commemorative dollar coin from 1971 to the present is eligible -- post your favorite and let us all know the reason(s) behind your selection.

I'll get things started...

Among the modern commemorative dollars, I am partial to those portraying a theme of "Exploration." Among such coins, I find the 1989 Sir Alexander Mackenzie Bicentennial piece to be the one that most captures my attention. Its commemorative design of Mackenzie standing in his canoe, leading his team through an unexplored river valley in the northwest of Canada is dynamic, well-executed and compelling. Kudos to designer John Mardon!

My favorite would be the 1973 RCMP Commemorative.

I choose this just because it is a classic Canadian image - Mountie on horseback. (Not my coin in the photo - just grabbed one from the web!)

A rare very fitting use of the ultra high relief finish/design. Also an olympic coin that does not ooze being an olympic coin

This one is nice as well.
I'm not usually a fan of cartooning up coins with colour/paint, but feel that the touch of red used here is very well done

OK, I'm going to go with the 2006 Enamel-effect Medal of Bravery.

Mine is the 2006 Victoria Cross Anniversary dollar. I love the design and the gold plating really makes it stand out. My father and uncles served in WWII and I have a lot interest in things from that time period
