I have a number of commerative coins that I would like to store in an album without removing the coin from the mint's airtight. Can this be done? Is there an album out there that will accomodate what I have in mind?

I have both dollar and half dollar that I'd like to store so that I can easily look at them without shuffling and opening boxes.
Rest in Peace

Look at crown size albums, 2.5x2.5"

As far as I know there is no company that makes such an album to accommodate the air tite. I too would like to see such an album for proof commemorative dollars as well as proof ASE's.

I'm using the Eagle brand US Dollar Commemorative coins 1983- album,
It has 5 pages that will hold 20/page,
Proof ASEs in their mint airtights fit nicely and make a nice display with 20/page

I agree with 'wvparadox' that the Eagle brand albums do make for a nice presentation of coins in round capsules -- I've used them for coins and medals in capsules with good results.

You may also consider the Lighthouse brand albums. They have pages designed for square 2" x 2" capsules that also fit most standard round coin capsules nicely.

The Lighthouse albums come in a few different colors, while the Eagle albums come only in brown.

You could consider taking them out of the air tights and just putting them in Albums. You could get blank Album Covers, blank pages, put the coins in those. Then just put the entire Album in a Zip Lock Plastic Bag for long term preservation. I've had coins in such Albums for as long as there have been Albums and no problems at all.

The Dansco book is called "Coins" and will hold up to 9 pages of clear 2X2 pockets with three across and four
down. Airtights will not fit in them.

I have several of the Dansco 2x2 albums (for my dark side and other miscellaneous coins). Other than having 12 pockets instead of 20, they are no different than other 2x2 pages. I know for a fact that the cent, nickel, and dime Air-Tite holders will fit, but anything bigger could be a problem.

The mint's holders are not Air-Tite brand; the half dollar and dollar sizes are much thicker. I am pretty sure they will not fit.
