Did you have a look at this one from the Perth Mint?
AUSTRALIA'S GOLDEN ERA OF WHEAT - COIN AND BANKNOTE PORTFOLIO
1x $2 note
1x 1962 Threepence
1x little bag of wheat
1x copy token
All for the bargain price of $69.95
Ridiculous they are coming on like some of the worst on eBay

as for 100 odd dollars for an ounce of silver bullion.
"They gotta be dreamin" or relying on the naivety of some collectors.
These are not real coins just bullion rounds admitidly well struck but not worth more than 3x spot

the latest ounce coins in the post office are $100, I'm sorely tempted to take out a loan to buy the last of last years from them.

Why not spend a hundred on a couple of 1937 crowns and get over 1.6 oz silver and 2 REAL coins instead of getting a bullion round.
I like the Perth Mint rounds but they are way overpriced.
If I wanted to invest in bullion rounds I would go with the ASE's, they are great looking and a lot cheaper per oz than them awful dragon coins ( what on earth does a dragon have to do with Australia anyway).
I'm afraid the Perth Mint has priced itself out of my market

If I was buying new release silver at present, I'd be looking at Canadian $20's.

While I'm prepared to pay a margin over bullion for a proof finish and packaging, 3x is out of the question particularly at current rates.

do your research the 20 for 20 coins are only 1/4 oz so $80 PER OZ

Yeah I know that, but they're backed by face value, which when we're talking of silver at historical highs is a nice insurance policy.

At more than $45 per oz that's pretty expensive insurance

If I was strictly into silver, I'd be buying Aussie pre-dec's at sub-bullion prices. Those Canadians $20's are the only silver based new releases I'd touch.

No problems trout. I like to find out others opinions as much as my own I can't seem to say no to pre-dec silvers at melt, especially in VF or higher

I have no problem reselling any of the coins I get from the Perth Mint at a profit. I make much more selling them than I would selling any ASE or maple leafs and I am in it to make money.

I have to admit that surprises me. What sort of a timescale are we looking at for turning a profit?

The way I see it, if you are looking at a profit purely on the bullion price you wouldn't buy coins that are 3 x the spot price. You may eventually make a profit over many years but it is a pretty inefficient way of doing it. (as trout said, 1937 crowns would be a much better option)

Despite small mintages I would imagine the numismatic value of Perth Mint coins would be fairly minimal. In the year 2032 after an additional 20 years of coin releases, who is going to remember what was released in 2012?

I am turning over most coins within a few months and make a minimum $30.00 profit per coin. The really popular ones sell much quicker at better profit and some I will hold onto for extended periods till they go up higher in price.
