It's pretty obvious that it was harshly cleaned. I'm just curious how it got to where it's at now.
Rest in Peace

He has two other 21's listed that also looked to have been scrubbed. All are problem coins IMHO.

Yea...they're obviously cleaned. I was just wondering how. My guess was acid dip that only removed patina at the center followed by a scrub which you can see clearly in both the toned and untoned areas.

How does the seller keep a 100% feedback when they have made no effort to relay the problems with this coin (or the others they have listed?)

I would be willing to wager a shiny, new penny their modus operandi is listing problem coins without an honest description. "View the image and judge for yourself" is a cop-out that does nothing to educate or warn the beginning collector.

Looks like a rough scrub with baking soda to me. Agreed too big of a problem coin, I wouldn't want it for what he is asking, maybe half that, even then?

it may have been scrubbed awhile ago and started to retone now. I am guessing that is what you are asking, how it got scrubbed like that and yet still has toning around the edges

Yeah, definitely toned since somebody took the wire wheel to it. What a shame.

Simple. Anyone ignorant enuf to buy such a piece of crap is going to be tickled when he gets it. Any knowledgeable collector won't buy it to start with.
