Last I had came from cash register at supermarket about 2 years ago. Checkout girl was happy to change it for a "normal" one. Have found the occasional NZ (round) 50ยข when noodling. Jeff

Jeff, Spotting it while in a cash register is impressive. Well done (even for 2 years ago).

From a mint pack - I have not found any proofs in circulation (yet?!). It has not had much wear and tear. I will try for a photo tomorrow.

I got a 1993 50c COA today in change. That was pretty cool. Reasonable condition. Probable gVF or above. One lighter knock, but no other real detracting marks. Mainly just wear. I didn't realise that there were only one million minted.

I have found 5 1993's since I started searching 50c recently - but only one 1991 rams head - those seem to have all disappeared!

The rams head 50 cent is one of if not the best design for the coin. It's no wonder everyone wants to keep them

FNQ, 50c are my favourite now too. I was mainly searching 5c (for early coins in good condition and 1972s), but have moved on to 50c. The big (literally) problem with noodling 50c is that they are too big/heavy, and tie up too much money to get lots of coins - in comparison to 5c anyway. I was getting $100 of 5c and I would have 2000 coins to go through, in comparison, I get up to $200 (twice the amount of money) of 50c and only have 400 coins to search.
