Yea I saw this one yesterday and told the seller it was in a fire or heated with a torch.The reply I got was as quoted "Now why would somebody do that?"

Yeah I figured it went through a fire or severely burned.

There are five bids on it. Sad. I bet someone's house burnt down and they later found that in the rubble.

And it looks like there is rust in the middle of it. Very strange piece indeed. Definitely a home job.

I have silver coins that went through a fire and they aren't anywhere near what that one looks like. My coins are burnt beyond recognition, with barely any detail on them. That one has great details on the reverse.

I'd imagine the clad coin would melt and blister faster than a silver coin.

Acetylene torch was used to extract the copper core. the obverse clad layer looks to have been pulled back with pliers. Just my opinion.

The torch was my first inclination as well... I didn't think about the copper core, I just thought they were heating the coin enough to peel back the clad layer.

If the seller is the creator, they have found themselves an interesting way to make a few extra dollars... as long as they don't continue to post similar coins.
