I am curious how everyone decides what banks they pick up coins from and which ones they dump at. I have 3 banks to pick up from and 3 to dump at. They are in 3 key locations throughout the city targeting shopping and older subdivisions. My only concern with my dump banks is one is in a location that makes me miss a large section on the city, which I guess can't be helped, and the other one is about 6 blocks from one of my pick up banks. I wonder when the banks get low on rolls if they may call up the other bank that I dump at to get more and therefore I could end up with the same stack. Is this possible or am I over thinking it.

Well, some branches take accumulated customer rolls and ship them to their main branch within the city. Some branches just hold onto the customer rolls indefinitely, giving them out if customers ask for them. I have not heard of one branch calling another to have coins moved, other than the example I gave- many branches funneling their coins to one main downtown branch.

Mmmmm..thats interesting because 1 of the banks I get coins from is the main downtown branch. You think that I should get the coins from the branch that is 6 blocks away but not in the shopping area like the main to avoid this?

I don't know for sure if this is true for all banks, but the ones I go to in the north end of Toronto don't "borrow" from other branches in the hood. Most of the coin gets ordered from Garda services and they come in sealed boxes. Not sure if this is the same in smaller towns, but I would imagine this to be the case.

If you are concerned about getting rolls you have already searched, the simple solution is to mark your returned rolls in a way known to you. Put something like a red letter s on the roll.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Bank Of Montreal has coin counters in their branch and its free. Since I work for a bank, I have no problems getting any rolls lol.

You know, being new to this, I guess I'm a bit nervous of running intoa problem with the bank and dont want to be centre of attention. I do mark all my rolls and I guess that attention might turn to me if I get some rolls and start picking at them there, if I see them, and make them get me different ones. I guess I should just be straight up with them and tell them that I'm going to sort and I want different ones?

Some banks have them but probably have broken ones.
