Definitely hurt the value but I'm not a Lincoln guy so you'll have to wait for one of them to come along for a value estimate.

It depends... I won't buy a cleaned coin at all, unless it's something that's basically impossible to get original. I don't have a good sense of value on an error like this, but the cleaning is pretty harsh, it would take away 50-75% of the value, IMO.
Generally the rule is to never, ever clean coins. This goes for most old things, frankly. If you've ever watched Antique Roadshow, you'll see the appraisers just about strangle anyone who cleans antique American furniture.
There are some caveats and addendums to the "never ever" rule. Sometimes it's OK to remove grease, debris or foreign matter with acetone. Ancient coins are commonly cleaned because they're generally so heavily encrusted. Even when it's advisable however, it's a very delicate operation, not something to be undertaken casually. When in doubt, do nothing. You can't unring that bell.

It's funny, my wife and I have been keeping up on your thread today and yesterday. Me dear old Mudder had an old beer bottle bank about 3 feet tall full of pennies and we went through the whole thing last night. Found 12 Rosie's, 17 Canadians, and 13 Wheaties. Now you guys have her looking for 1998, 99, and 2000 WAM's, lol. She just knows she's gonna find one.

Just finished all 4 sealed boxes of pennies I had.
Box 1: 6 Wheat Box 2: 138 Wheat Box 3: 23 Wheat Box 4: 7 Wheat
Also got 54 rolls of copper pennies. And that Error Coin.
Was a little disappointed on box 3 and 4 when box 2 had so many. Guess I was really lucky on box 2. Still no CAM'S.

Yea. but once you have a box like that you cant wait to get to the next one hoping it will be better than your last one. I found one roll with a wheat on each end. I saved it for last hoping it was a full roll. As I go through the boxes I look at both ends and if it has a wheat I sit it aside so that at the end I know I found at least one. The most I found in one roll was 13 wheat. I'm going to go and get at least another 7 boxes Monday.

Yeah somebody must have dumped there collection of wheats for box two. I was reading another thread and apparently it's getting harder to find WAM'S AND especial the rare CAM as so many people are pulling them out of circulation. I'm on my 5th box and I have 15-20 pounds of copper cents. This might sound dumb but defiantly you make sure to check the dates of the wheats as well as if there were any variety or errors those years for example a 1955 double die. Never know where you might find the newest high end error coin

what kinds of errors are there for wheats? I have a couple hundred of them alrady. Also can you include pictures of the errors. I got alot of 1955's. And the WAM's are those on any 1998,1999, and 2000? guess what I mean is are you going to find a WAM with a mintmark? like for example a 2000D or something like that

I have a RedBook 2012 and turns out it shows the errors in there. and it turns out the indian head I found was a 1906 not a 1902. I will not clean this coin like I did the other since it is frowned upon.

Took all of our pennies to the bank and checked if I could buy a bag....teller said they don't do that....asked about buying a box....don't do that either but we can order them for you for a fee, of course. Ahhhh well, try different banks I guess.

Yeah, the rebook lists everything. That 1906 is a nice $1-$2 coin. For reference I usually keep 30-50% of the coins I search through. I just sell the copper cents and 1500 of them or 10lbs is going for around $20-$30 plus shipping. I'm thinking about making a website and selling directly through it.

Kingcoin: Just went back to my bank today and got there last 2 sealed boxes of pennies. The teller told me if I'm going to come in and get boxes like that they will have to order them. So I ordered 6 boxes to be picked up friday. As far as I know there is no fee. Then I went to another bank who was out of boxes of pennies but they said they've been getting lots of Customer Rolled coins, so I took all the had. lets see if I get anything out of these customer rolled ones.
