I recently received my Dansco replacement pages for my Roosevelt dime book. The set I am working on is uncirculated with proofs. Why does the Dansco page not have a hole for the 1981-S Type 2? It has one for the 1979, but not the 1981. Why include one if not the other?

I never really looked into it but according to this http://panlogos.com/dave/1981proofset/ there wasn't a distinction made in the Red Book. So perhaps since it isn't in the Red Book it didn't make the album

The Jefferson w/Proofs (Dansco #8113) is the same way. I ended up just buying a blank page for early proofs and varieties.

I too suspect the Red Book has a lot to do with what manufacturers use for a guide in their Albums.

None of my Dansco albums recognize the 1981-S varieties.

The Red Book only recognizes them for the SBA dollar, so it does not surprise me that the Dansco SBA album has a place for them.
