Back when I actively searched rolls (1990's) I found a lot of wheat cents. I had an insider at the bank who would alert me when "something good" was deposited. I acquired a lot of solid Wheat cent rolls this way. They were all common dates; I did not find anything special.

So I went to the bank and got 50 CWR's. All I found was some copper pennies. No Wheats or anything

But I did go to the bank where I found 138 wheats and got 2 more sealed boxes of pennies. I went through one and found 59 Wheats!

I still have another box to go through tomorrow. I also found this wheat could it be a struck through capped die? I found one of these coins already and they are a little similar.

I average one in every $2.50. Doesn't seem to matter if I search cwr or machine wraps, also the quantity I search doesn't seem to change my average. I have found about 2.5 rolls so far with the oldest a 1910.

Yesterday, I traded some of my 50cent rejects for 3 rolls of pennies. One roll from a Dollar General in Castle Hayne and later got 2 rolls from a Dollar General in Rocky Point, NC. I found a fair amount of copper from 60's and 70's. The nice finds were 2 wheats out of 3 rolls plus a Canadian from 1985. The first wheat was 1940 and the second one was a 1948S.

I generally get 10 or so per box. I went through $350 in December and found a box that not only had about 100 wheats, but a full roll from a private bank that was hand stamped 1970. Real cool finds.
