This silver piece weighs 10.7 grams. I believe it is an Indian rupee, but I don't know who issued it or from what state. It doesn't scan very well, but most of the details are pretty clear.

On a closer look, the date is 1057.AH

But somehow, the date imprint gives a feel like it being 1097 which is after the reign of Shahjahan. Please take a careful look and confirm.

I used my 10X glass which didn't help because of the wear in the date area. I had to increase my scan size to 400% and crop the date area, which seems a bit clearer. Maybe you can tell the date better now.

١٠٥٧ = 1057
١٠٩٧ = 1097

From the magnified image it seems that the third digit is "9" which should be an error. The coin as such looks genuine and has a pit dug on its obverse that signifies purity test done by some mint master. Such test of purity used to be common those days.

And to add, every coin used to bring a depreciation of about 3% every year.People could "remint" the coins they held paying a specified rate as well.

Is it possible that the third digit is a backward "3" {Arabic 4} over something else. Would that make more sense?
