It's a "mint set medal". They put it in the vacant "sixth slot" of the cellophane wrappers sometime in the period pre-2000 when no $1 coins were being made (I forget the exact dates). Some were plastic; some were struck on 1 cent blanks.

Is it copper?
That's a pretty cool thing to find out in the wild -- although I doubt it has any value now that it has been ripped from its packaging. Still -- nice find.

Yes, it is made of copper. I was really wondering because there is no denomination mentioned and it says 'uncirculated.'

Yeah, it's a dream ... when every coin states its own condition.

Well, I've seen many clowns out on ebay, you could post it, UNCIRCULATED PHILADELPHIA MINT! lol Rare penny. I'm sure it would go then :)

I actually own that coin. I bought it 2 weeks ago for $1.00 US dollars And, that photo makes it look MUCH bigger than it really is. The mints have made some others that are almost the size of an Ike dollar. Where did you find yours?
