Nice color, provides nice contrast to the details, but I think that the 'patina' is just a little too deep, it is on the way to 'bronze disease'.

Nevertheless, I would not attempt to remove it. Eye appeal will most probably be sacrificed if you do.

Keep this coin away from a damp atmosphere.

It's a Greek coin, the design on the reverse is a thunderbolt.
I can't read the inscription, but it does resemble Seleucid coins.

Thank you for the point in the right direction, DV.

Does that look like a match to anyone else?

''ΣΙΛΕΩΣ 'ΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ ΕΠΙΦ'ΝΟΥΣ ΦΙΛΟΠ'ΤΟΡΟΣ Κ'ΛΛΙΝΙΚΟΥ

No. I see EYEPGETOY where the Forvm coin has ΦΙΛΟΠ'ΤΟΡΟΣ and a thunderbolt instead of a figure. Try to find an image of Demetrios III Sear 7192 and see if it matches.

You're right, it does look like the thunderbolt now that I've seen one.

Here's the best quality match I could find:

thats a nice greek coin. I like how old those coins are. There is so much coin history in those pieces.

Unfamiliar, that is very close! The style of the thunderbolt is very distinctive on these coins.

I've been trying to respond to this post since last night but my wifi crashed and has just been fixed five minutes ago. This is a nice coin, but what you think is a nice patnia is actually the start of bronze disease. If left untreated it will destroy the coin. Here is a site that will explain what BD is and how to ytreat it. http://www.classicalcoins.com/bronze_disease.html

A very good read.
Once the pitting damage has occurred it cannot be repaired. Just to halt the 'disease' is about as far as you can go.
