Found this great list, I have a lot of the books on it already, but there are a few more to track down still for my collection.

Why not just go to the Whitman Publishing web site, order a catalog of theirs. It contains books on stamps, coins, Folders, Albums and on and on and on.

I only have one book on that entire page: the Yeoman RedBook. I must be a terrible coin collector.

Or maybe I'm not American.

westcoin: Thanks for the link to this great list, I was unaware of it.

As I read through the list, I came across a good number of familiar titles that I would expect to make such a list (I even have a fair number of them). I was surprised, however, to find that my primary area of collecting interest -- US commemorative coins -- was not represented by a single title!

How could the pioneering work of Howland Wood (The Commemorative Coins of the United States, 1922), the comprehensive work of Walter Breen and Anthony Swiatek (The Encyclopedia of United States Silver & Gold Commemorative Coins 1892-1954, 1981) or the monumental effort of Q. David Bowers (Commemorative Coins of the United States: A Complete Encyclopedia, 1991) all go without recognition? These (among others) are core references for collectors of the series, and deserved to at least receive a few votes IMHO.

I might just have to compile my own 'Top 10' list and post it here!

I must be a bit like Sap, for the same reasons.
I do have a complete set of David Sear's books though!

Yes I probably should have put US Numismatic reference books in the title - I have nothing against the rest of the world - honest!

David Sears books are great too, I have a couple, and yes the RedBook is a classic, it has most info one needs to answer questions about US coins and coinage contained inside. There are a few books missing IMO, but it doesn't take away from the fact it's pretty complete. Not having books doesn't make you any less of a collector - just a less informed one

As I collect classic coin books like I collect coins with passion!
