A friend found this coin listed on a website and thinks it to be the 1918/7-D Variety Overlooked by the seller. I kind of see it but need confirmation as I am unsure about the assessment being I have only handled one other example which was a higher grade and much more legible. This is the best picture of the coin that I have to go by...

I had the exact same situation about a week ago with a restored date example, and I posted the same question; got a number of replies. Mine has been sent to ANACS; hopefully you can get some good info from the thread. I would recommend that you also post a picture of the reverse, as the position of the mintmark says a lot. There are a couple diagnostics including designers initials and as mentioned, mintmark.
Hard to tell on yours.

I don't mean to crash the party, but looking at photos of the mintmark location on the Heritage website of examples they sold, yours looks to be too far to the right. I looked at over a dozen of them, and they must have all used the same reverse die as the left side of the "D" is always found to line up with the end of the bottom arm of the E in FIVE.

i came across 5 Buffalo nickles in my familys safe 1936,1930,1935,1925,193? r they worth anything
