A rare 1875 s/cc graded AU 55 details cleaned. Yes it is a problem coin and is whizzed but if I offer it on ebay what is a reasonable asking price vs sell price?

I'm guessing you could get around $1800.

I don't think you'd see anywhere close to $1,800. I'm in the area that amida17 is - in the $600 - $700 range.

I would guess around $700 sounds reasonable.

It looks more like tooth brush. This may seem off the wall but if the brush marks are just really fine. You could crack it out and walk around with it in your pocket for 6 to 8 weeks and have a AU-50 to AU-53 with out details. That is if the brush marks are light.
It will not look as nice as it is now. But may grade. I myself would just leave it be, as the coin is what it is.

I could see it going as high as $800 but nowhere past that.

I wonder if anyone has population report access to PCGS, NGC, and ANACS? It would be nice to know how many of this variety are floating around out there.

What does the reverse look like? I'd guess $600 to $800 based on the obverse. If the reverse is better, then maybe $900.
Now if I were selling it? The asking price would be over $1,000, maybe even $1200.

Full disclosure: I'm no expert and this is mostly my speculation, not experience. It was still fun to write though. :D
Pretty interesting. XF-40 per PCGS pricing goes for $900. AU-55 for $2000. MS-60 for $4100. I think a fair rough estimate is to take the retail price guide value by 50% to come to what is realistic retail. I'd guess AU-55 details would equal XF-45 money. Lets say XF-45 goes for $1250. That means you're looking at $625? I think an asking price of $1200 is more than fair. If you find the right collector on a good day you could get lucky. If not $600-800 sounds reasonable.
