Got my "complimentary" Spring 2012 catalog from Littleton Coin Co. today.....and it came with a nice little surprise.
I don't normally deal with them due to their inflated prices and over-graded coins, but every now and then something catches my eye.
Near the back of the catalog, a small 3"x5" card fell out onto my desk - you know, the ones you usally throw away because they're a pain. But the big print caught my eye because it said "genuine 1921 Morgan silver dollars". I happen to collect Morgans, so I started reading.
Basically, they are offering up to three 1921 Morgan silver dollars for $29.95 each, plus free shipping. Folks, that's about $4.25 below melt as of this writing. Did I mention free shipping ?
Three Morgans, below melt, with free shipping. I'm jumping on this one like a chicken on a June bug.

You betcha. Anytime I can pick up a Morgan for below melt, it's a good day. I'll get three of them, just because.

Sounds like a fair deal even though it is not below melt.

you may want to be sure you read the fine print also, because usually when littleton has these types of deals they put you on a list to receive a coin of the month coin and if you like it you just send them the money and if you don't you have to send the coin back to them each month. I am not sure this is one of those deals, it is just the ones I have seen from littleton

Littleon Coin Company is one that I would NEVER recommend anyone do business with. Overpriced, overgraded coins and once they start sending you coins on approval it is very difficult to get them to stop. Ed ANA LM-3175

I've done business with them many times - but always on the other end selling coins to them, they always paid good money, and their checks never were a problem. That said I have never purchased from them myself.

I have to agree with Gyrene and if you don't, I second Bryan's first sentence. I learned both those lessons when I was 8. Let this June bug live to see another day.

I want to add I have not seen this ad that is being discussed and I was just saying to read over it carefully because every time I have seen this company have these "good deals" it has always been where you are signing up for their coins on approval program and its very hard to get out of. This may not be the case with this particular ad but did want everyone to at least be aware and to read the ad carefully before they get caught up in something they weren't prepared for

I have never done business with Littleton and I will never do so. Years ago, my neighbor showed me coins that she had bought. Stuff that one would find in a junk bin. Their ads appear in circulars mailed and placed in newspapers. They are designed to be attractive to non-collectors who do not know better. For this reason alone I stay away from them. Many years ago, they had full page ads in Coinage magazine. Probably they still appear. The sad thing is that the people who need to be warned about Littleton are not likely to be members of this site.

Yeah, I've been on their "on approval" list before....they quit sending me stuff after I returned everything as being over-graded & over-priced.
This particular ad does not mention anything about getting on their list, as I recall, but I'm sure it was put out there as a some kinda loss leader to sucker people in.
Seems to me that Littleton's worst enemy is an informed consumer.
