Nice note. The Woods-Tate note can be tough and the Woods-Tate star is nearly impossible -- Less than 20 known.

Wheat is right, the Woods/Tate star is beyond the reach of most. This note (shown before) is actually the first TPG note I ever purchased, for $50 on a bid board in c. 1995 or so (can't remember exactly).  |

Found this out in the wild, it is the lowest serial # I have found in circulation.  have been watching this thread and really like to see all the different notes! I'm currently just collecting from circulation so I don't run across any of the much older notes. I sure am learning a lot from this forum though! |

Nice pick-ups. As readily available as the Speelman/White and Woods/White notes are (among the most common of all large-size notes), the Woods/Tate is genuinely scarce and, to me, a good value at today's levels. There were almost 2.5 BILLION Speelman/White notes issued, but only 4.7 MILLION of the Woods/Tate variety, many of which were no doubt destroyed when their production was halted before the change-over to the new small size.

I wish I had some killer coins to post in the coin forums. Like I've said before I'm not into the coins like the paper but theres a few of them I would like to retain again, in nice condition. Like the 3 cent, 2 cent, Half Cent, large cent, flying eagle, shield, Half Dime, etc... Those are cool ones to own. |

Wheat - nice star. As the least expensive large-size star, it should always grow in value, even if not at a fast pace. Go for a l917 $1 USN star if you can - nice companion and seems undervalued to me. The Bank Note Reporter will be listing values for large-size stars fairly soon and I am looking forward to it.
The Roanoke note is beautiful!

Wheat - These cost maybe twice as much as the SCs in circulated grades, but are a good bet for the long term I think.  |
