Others and myself researched the signatures and township and figured the two people were friends from the early 1920's through maybe the early 1940's. We do not believe it has anything to do with being a soldier or any war. Maybe a wallet piece one of them kept for nostalgia or good luck.

As always Steve in Tampa is bringing the heat a free black eagle and a crispy birth year note and here I thought the epq Barr I pulled from circulation was cool but a free black eagle any condition is unreal yet to have one in my collection yet they are all too worn or too much to justify excellent scores Steve.

One of the signers of your Black Eagle ——Edward "Eddie" Dowling —— was a WW1 vet in a medical detachment. He was born in 1893 and died in 1955.
He is buried in Sanford.
If only these notes could talk, the stories they could tell!

That was Ed's 4th marriage at 48 years old. That couldn't have been too popular in 1939.

Well, as I had the Vermont State Bank 1,50 of this note from 1809, I thought I should get this 1,25 note from 1807 to go along with it. This one's a bit of a rag, really, with a serious tear and wear, but it's lived a full life, and is in a happy spot now.  |
