These are great!

Tell us more about what you collect in paper money - basically NC obsoletes? Or..?

As far as paper currency goes I collect CSA notes and NC Obsolete notes. I also have a small collection of US large size notes. 1899 $1, 1899 $2, 1923 $1, 1907 $5 Woodchopper, and a few more I am sure I am forgetting about.

Hopefully one day soon I will get these out and photograph some of my collection and post them here.

The Gold Certificate has seen better days and the Fractional has a couple of pin holes but I am quite pleased with the woodchopper. These things might be quite common in the States but are not seen so often over here.

David and hajduk - nice finds. I don't know how you guys across the pond keep it up (US currency). Do you have local coin shops, and do you know others around you who collect US material?

I sent Hajduk exactly the same question and got no response. It is a problem though... many US sellers will not ship to the UK, not many UK sellers have anything but recent holiday money or fantasy bills.

When we do find US sellers willing to ship here the customs guys can cause trouble holding stuff and putting import duty on it. So this can make it counter productive to try and buy stuff too.

I recently attended the London Currency Fair and was amazed at the selection of notes available, but talking to all the stall holders and nobody had even a few interesting USA bills.

Luckily I spent enough time in the states to break the back of some sort of collection... I collected each denomination in small head, large head and colourised at face value. I then added the Yellow seals, red seals and blue seals in the earlier days of ebay (when there seemed to be more friendly US sellers) Now I am just adding a few of the earlier bills and fractionals to make the collection a bit more interesting, though I hardly have a ground breaking or particularly high end collection of US.

Have you got spare notes for trade/sale coinfrog? I have seen some of your stuff, probably out of my league.

Paper money related... I just grabbed a limited edition copy of Paper Money of The United States off ebay. Only 200 issued and signed by both authors.

David - it's not important what I collect personally. I'm just hooked on US currency and could possibly help facilitate your purchases over here. Not looking for a buck. Sent you a PM.

I don't seem to have any messages... and you don't except emails... but I would be happy to talk with you. I am sure having contacts that side of the pond could be useful.
