Nice. Should be a 65, imho.

Well, IF it had been a 65 I would have had to pay more.LOL But thanks for the compliment as I sort of agree with you.

Congrats, your bills are very cool.
I need a Cleveland bill for my full District collection.
The Teehee and Burke Eagle is awesome.
I got something for my $2 small size collection and a new legal tender bill.

Great notes. I'm always fascinated how you come up with these living so far away.

Yeah I bought it raw. It was part of that "horde" I bought a few months ago. The bulk of them just came back from grading today. Working on a separate post. Nothing real gutsy about it. With what I paid I knew I should come out ahead.

I find it fascinating that there are still notes in that good of condition floating around ungraded. Good luck with the grade, what are you thinking it will come back as?

My first Confederate bill. Nothing great condition-wise, but at least it appears to be authentic.

Dave - I expect a 65PPQ, maybe a 66 - the reverse is a killer, and you can easily see the paper wave right through the holder. I'll photograph and post the reverse tomorrow.

Since I was a kid back in the 1960's, I have collected coins. I tucked away an occasional silver certificate bill or old reserve note, but really my main interest was and still is coins. I bought a black eagle for next to nothing at a flea market about a decade ago which piqued my interest in currency. Now I'm gradually starting to get into currency a bit more. Currently not much in the ways of collecting goals, just picking up a few things that catch my eye. I'm not looking for high grade or high dollar paper. As for the Confederate bill, I've been a Civil War buff. So, I decided to pick up a piece of history. Next? I might start looking around for an affordable gold certificate.

batboy - Sounds like a plan. If you would like to read a wonderful book about large-size notes and their history, with great color pics, buy "The Comprehensive Catalog of US Federal Large-Size Notes, 1861-1929" by Chambliss and Hessler (2014). It is not inexpensive, but it will give you dozens of hours of great reading and invaluable information.
