Another one
Just wondering if anyone has found any 2012 coins in circulation yet, the amount of coins coming out of the mint for collectors this year makes me wonder if they have time to mint circulating coins?

only been getting the emails for a few months and I am amazed at how many there are, most have high mintages as well which makes it hard to find good value. the only coin in the last email was the 1oz carded roo coin on the last page, for I think $57.
and I have a 10c that could become circulated lol could be a drawcard on ebay, just have to uncard it and drop it a few times lol

Thanks for preview

No 2012 circulated coins seen as yet

Makes you wonder about mints motives....is ir for collectors or profit driven?

I think the mint has a good idea about how much coinage is available for commerce and just mints whatever denomination is in short supply.
They have been doing this for years.

The only thing the mint cares about is profit and supplying Australia's coinage, they don't care about collectors at all. Whats a good way to make profit? Make shiny new coins every month so that collectors have to buy them to have complete sets. They cant lose.

Erkle, you say this jokingly but if you were to very lightly mark it and put it on ebay as the first 2012 coin found in circulation you would probably do quite well.

G'day folks!

I'm from Melbourne, and I am sorry to say that there are not ANY 2012 coins that I know which are released into circulation. It's April now.. How slack?

The only way you could put some into circulation (I suppose) is to break open the 2012 set and release them into circulation yourself.

Well, hopefully they won't release any into circulation, because just think of how scarce the coins will be!
Standard Uncirculated Coin Set 2012= 100,000 minted... Proof Set= 50,000.. (Not sure about baby sets lol)

Knowing trout, no, he "freed it from its plastic coffin" or something like that right trout? I think his coins look good all in 2x2s, nice and consistent.

I'll say it again, these NCLT ought to have a few million put into circulation by the Mint, in order to truly "comemorate" these events.

off soapbox now ...

I know exactly how you feel, I had the same opinion until I actually started collecting NCLT coins.
I am now a reformed anti NCLT collector and am collecting as many as I can

as an aside had the honour of meeting and getting to know a Kokoda vet several years ago - when you read what they had to deal with and go through its makes your day-to-day problems seem trivial
