I have this 1964 Jefferson nickel with a very odd rim. It's raised all around, on both sides, and makes the legend, motto, and year very difficult to read. Even the Denver "D" is hard to see. It seems too uniform to be post-production, and I want to know if it is in fact a printing error. There is no trace of a reeded edge, anywhere.
It is probably a Dryer Coin. A spooned nickel is too small to make a ring out of. Dryer Coins are what they find in commercial dryers that laundrymats have. These are coins left in the clothes and eventually get banged around in side and some make it into the inside of the fins. With this much tumbling the coins rims roll over the faces of the coin.
