Everything about it suggest a genuine clip to me, but I'd like to see the whole coin.

Here's more pics of my clip. What should I be looking for on the opposite side of the clip? Please educate this novice at errors.

Clear B-effect. What you're looking for is that distorted or weaker part of the rim directly opposite of the clip. It's cause because the clip prevents the rim-upsetting machine from working properly and applying pressure to that part of the rim. Sometimes it doesn't show up very strongly (or even at all) and the rim forms normally, but it's not something that's easily faked, so it's a strong sign of a real clip.

It's a real clip, no doubt - it has every effect you'd expect to see on the genuine article.

Blakesley effect
The weakness opposite the clip on a clipped planchet error coin. This occures during the upsetting process, because of the clip there is a lack in pressure to upset the rim directly opposite the clip.

1944 seems to be a popular year for clipped planchets as I have one too. Mine is clipped below the date. Nice find!
