Coiladdict...your killing me (ha,ha)...First I post as nickels (fixed) and then you find that the right penny has errors, which I took off the web to compare. Guess I won't be buying a lottery ticket today....

Looks Nice wert. Have a question, How do you get the marks of lines on your Pics. Is there some sort of software you use. Love the pics by the way lol.

You're using the edge of the other numbers to compare, but in your example, the edge of 9 and 6 seem damaged and slightly flattened, so I think the 4 might look different in comparison, but in reality isn't. That's how it seems to me.

I must also agree with mysterious_dr_x. You are using the bottom of the 6, that is damaged, as a reference.

Hi wert
Sorry about that..I hope I didn't offend in anyway...I had been looking at those 64's for "extra spine" the last while so it was one of the first areas I check out of habit. The inside triangle of the "4" appears to be different too.
Take care

Not a problem Coiladdict... Absolutely no offence taken my friend...But, you are right, good eye on the inside of that "4" in the date. folcan99, I use a program (free) called shutter...It is one of many programs you could use....Sorry, I don't think it works on Windows...I will try to find a Window equivalent for you.... folcan99.... Inkscape is FREE and will allow you to draw straight lines on your Windows machine. Link below... http://inkscape.en.softonic.com/?kc...0BQAodsSnS0A

The two bottom lines don't end at the same point on the maple twig. The left one is way below the bud, while the right one goes to the bud.
If you connect the bottom of the 9 to the bud on the twig, you'll see the gap disappears.

Wert, is that a proof-like strike 1-cent you are comparing your circulated business strike with?

My advice, buy a roll of BU 1964 1-cent coins - you can find a roll on ebay for less than $15 (with shipping), or buy a lot of 3-5 rolls for roughly $4 per roll... http://www.ebay.com/sch/Small-Cents...3286.c0.m282Check out the various die deteriorations of the 1964 cent, commonly with the 4 in the date and the stem of the left maple leaf. Eventually the die deteriorated to a point whereby the edges of the 4 in the date were struck and poorly defined, and the left maple leaf stem almost becomes separated from the branch. You can also compare your proof-like strike with a mint state business strike, to see if there are actual size differences in the date.
