The coin is a remarkable find: it is a 24 skilling coin from the Danish West Indies (nowadays the US Virgin Islands), dated 1767. It was issued in the name of the Danish king Christian VII (hence the CVII monogram). 75,000 coins were struck with this date at the Altona mint and 12,000 at the Copenhagen mint.
