Apologize for the pics. I need to make a black mask for my camera - believe that is half of the problem of the glare and therefore muted toning on my cent pictures. All uncirculate - 1930, 1931 D, 1938, 1939, & 1939 D. Yep, that is a spot on the reverse of the 39 S - straight up carbon. I am STOKED about the 31 D. My pics make it look terrible. Easy MS63. Price was under $50 for the lot.

My pics suck...period. The 38, 39, & 39 S are brilliant red UNC. The 39 S is a superb coin, except for the carbon spot.
31 D is a MS63 RB. More red than a normal RB...but this date is exceptionally hard to find in affordable and high grade. I was willing to spend $100 to $150 for it. My jaw dropped when the package deal was announced.
The 1930 is just a nice coin as well. Imagine some day it will be a full blown woodie. :)

The heck with the rest, that 31D was an OUTSTANDING buy! These are very, very scarce in MS with ANY red showing. I would have paid $200 or more for that 31D....I just NEVER see them offered for sale like that. You can toss the book values out the door, they mean nothing for this coin.

You should drop some VC on that verdigris spot on 39S. That is NOT carbon!

I am going to apply a black mask to my silver bodied camera tonight and take new pictures.
The 38, 39, & 39 S are true, blazing red coins - my camera set up makes them look RB at best.
The 30 is a RB cent. Nice strike though.
I have been hunting for a 31 D in MS grade for some time. Yes, they do exist...as Bad Thad stated...in high dollars. MS64 is large money to me. MS65 is HUGE money for a 31 D. Have yet to see or hear of a MS66 graded 31 D for sale...I don't think they exist.
Bad Thad - that black spot is hard something. Not glue or gum, but possibly a drop of water that sat for 20 years on the coin.
Dealer had bought a book of cents, minus the S VDB. All of the teens/twenties were G grade with a few VG. After that, they grades went up. I thought I would have $200 in the lot and would have been fine spending that for the lot. The 31 D is very, very hard to find. Will only grade RB, but would imagine would go MS63.
Thanks for the feedback and comments. With any luck, I will post pics later tonight.
