Your pictures are a bit small, but if this is a before and after picture. The coin cleaned up really nice.

The green darkened with the cleaning but some of the details came out a little better, I dont know if this was actually a coin that needed cleaning but thats why I bought it- to fix it up a little and get some practice. It was fun

It looks like a real success--especially on the portrait! Was that a DW soak, or were chemicals involved?

I did soak this coin in distilled water at the end of the cleaning but used chemicals, toothpicks and a toothbrush to get rid of the crud.

This was a very good candidate for cleaning--and your patient work paid off! Is the chemical available to anyone? I may try this sometime.

I buy my chemicals online. If you do clean with chemicals make sure you soak in distilled water for a few days do get rid of the chemical coating the coin. It leaves a slimey coating and doesn't just come off after you clean it. I used the rochelle salt solution posted on this forum a while ago.

here is a link you might like to read its prob not the best way to do things but just some of the ways an amatuer like myself have used and had good results. well most of the time. If you use chemicals just dip for a couple minutes at a time clean and then dip again. Make sure to use safety goggles and gloves. Dont do this on anything you dont want ruined because this can leave spots here and there on furniture.

thanks for all the compliments it was a fun little project. I have a few more that I am currently working on but taking pictures and downloading then posting takes more time then cleaning the coins sometimes.
