I have picked up several brown Ikes lately and am beginning to have problems with storage because of the size of the brown box and plastic case. Curious, do you other Ike collectors keep them in the brown box and plastic case or do you remove them for smaller air tight holders or some other holders? If removed, what is the effect on the value of the coin?

Although I don't have a "Brown Ike", I would keep it in it's original Gov't Holder, for pedegree purposes, like the GSA Dollars.

I would have to say that it depends on how long you plan on holding onto them. I think (only my opinion) but if you were going to sale them right now then the packaging they are in would increase their value some. However, from what I have been reading (on this site particularly), the condition of them is ultimately going to effect their value. Outside of the packaging, those individuals who collect "Ikes" can easily identify the proof from the business strike and therefore the packaging is not that significant. Also, I would imagine that we are going to see the "blue Ike" in high grade condition outpace the value of the "brown Ike" simply because it appears to be less common.
I could be totally wrong about that, but that is the impression that I get.

All of mine were cracked out and put into my Eisenhower Dansco album.

I still have the OGP materials in storage, but the coins have been safely stored in the album since 1993 or earlier.
