A while back,I Bought a 1904 Louisiana Purchase Expo Medal, that was described as a HK302 Bronze Medal...But when I received it,I discovered that it was a Badly tarnished Silver version of the medal, needless to say,I was quite surprised and thrilled..Anyone else ever get something better than they were expecting?

Consider it a "gift"! None such luck on this end, but there is always hope!

That is a nice surprise! Never happens to me, but glad it does happen to someone in here every now and then.

Once bought an 1834 Running Boar hard-luck token that appeared to be in XF / brown condition in the pixilated picture. The description wasn't much help... Was pleasantly surprised that in was in MS w/ a LOT of red. I guess sometimes it's worth it to take chances...

Do I even want to know how you removed the tarnish?

Whats really funny,is that I thought it was bronze when I got it,it was just really dirty,So,I rubbed it lightly with a paste made of baking soda and water and thats when I saw it was silver..Probably a No no,but I like the way it came out!!...

I think that if the coin looks nicer post cleaning, its a success. Its the owner's opinion over the world really, and I would certainly have shined it up.
