Hello,

Please tell me the grade and authenticity of this Canadian note.

Does the Queen's hair in this bill possess the devil's image?

Also, would pressing this note for a few weeks to remove 'some' of the current creases do anything to elevate the current grade?

Thanks,

mdpmedia

VF Condition - Has a book value of $35.

And yes, it is a devils head note.

Do NOT press the note. That is the same as cleaning a coin.

When you press a note, you are removing the original embossing.

Canadian Banknotes, could you please post a good picture (if you have one) like the above, but without the red shading? I have never seen a quality pic of two side by side. I can still make out the Devil face in the right hand version so sometimes I am not sure if what I have is the right one.

Earle,

I became motivated and found this URL addressing your question:

http://webhome.idirect.com/~mjp/mjpqna.html

In case this URL ever disappears from its current location, the comparative graphic contents are displayed below in this .jpg:

The devil's nose and darkened eye slits are obviously highlighted to become very apparent in the error note.

fyi,

The picture on the left is the Devils Head note. I don't have another picture without the red highlighting, but mdpmedia has posted one.

mpdemedia, thanks for the great pic. I looked online before but with no success. And thanks for the other pic Canadian Banknotes.

I used to live near the border and remember, as a kid, looking at these bills in circulation but not ever really being sure if the face was prominent enough to be an actual one or not. It has been a loooooooooooooooooooooong while since I have looked at the bills I have. Now I will have to get them back out and compare them.

BTW - I am trying to price up a 5 and ten from this era. I need nothing expensive or rare - just decent condition - what might I expect to pay?

Earle, If you are looking for modified notes, you will be able to pick up a $5 in VF condition for about $10, and a modified $10 in VF for about $15.
