I am new to the error coin collecting and I can't for the life of me ID this coin's error. Any help would be grateful. At first I thought it was a DD Rim, then upon further looking it appears that the blank was unevenly cut. You can see on the edge that this area is greatly thicker than the rest of the coin's edge. The raised rim is also surprisingly sharp. Any ideas on what the error may be?

There is no such thing as a DD rim. It is possible that the coin is very newly struck and it has a sharp rim on it. I get coins like that from my bank in rolls.

We can't tell at all what it is, without seeing a photo.

But it sounds like a misaligned die, which carries no extra value to the coin.

Celtic_prince: to the community and the hobby, head my warning below.

I once cut my thumb on a coin that had a sharp rim, about 1/4th of the rim was much higher than the rest,it was sharpest on this area.

The exception to this would be if part of the design was missing opposite the wide rim.

Thanks everyone. I will get a photo up soon. Trying to get a good one, so that everyone can see what the error is. It's hard to get a good one.

This is the only way I could show the unevenness of the rim. If you look closely you can see the coin is lying on a flat surface, but the "wide" rim causes the rest of the coin to have a gap.
