Since there has been much discussion about ebay, I thought of something. Could it be possible that you can get a better idea of what a coin trends for from ebay rather than a price guide or grey sheet? When you think about it, how often do you see a coin sell on ebay for what the price guide or greysheet says?

I think it depends on where you are buying/selling.

The ebay market is very volatile and I have seen some pretty radical changes from week to week. From what I have seen, ebay cannot be relied on for prices at coin shows and many dealers. Greysheet is your best bet for that.

Speaking of price trends....
When is the next issue of " Red Book" due to come out?
I have the 2004 57th edition, and was thinking about getting the 2006 edition.

Susan hit the nail on the head. ebay is quite useful for modern coins, and error coins, and some other coins that do not get traded as frequently. It should be used in conjunction with a guide such as the Greysheet.
You have to take into consideration that prices on ebay are reflected heavily on whom is selling the material. Between photos and feedback the prices can fluxuate quite a bit.
