Silver would be easier to move individually (smaller quantities).
Gold would be easier to store. Not everyone could come up with that type of money at one time, when it's selling time.
If I had that opportunity to choose...I would get the Monster Box.
I'd like to have a problem like that!

Gold bar! seriously nothing feels like 10oz of pure gold in your hands. With enough looking around this can be obtained for spot. my dealer I believe has a few of the new style JM 10oz bars left at spot to boot.

Hmm. I like the looks of that bar. But silver would be easier too sell. But I think I would go with the monster box and the bar? hard decision.... that I would never get to make.

A monster box of silver will not be easier to sell as in one lot. Those that can afford 500oz of silver can as easily afford the 10oz gold bar. The plus side to the monster box is that you can break it up, but then you'd have to have the time and willingness to deal with the multiple sales.
I'd go for the gold and walk around with it in my pockets for a day to feel like ten thousand dollars.

The ONLY thing that would be cooler then that J & M 10 oz. bar IMO (something that is a true piece of stack-able treasure, like in pirate chests, lol), would be a true authentic gold bar from a treasure wreck which can be traced back to a certain date an country. Like the one I saw on Pawn-stars and it seems like he bought it for like 25 grand perhaps, hoping to sell for 40 plus....
Bars with that type of history obviously go way beyond spot value, but that is a ONCE in a lifetime thing to own modern day fresh off the assembly line. I can only hope an dream of having one of those bad boys tucked away safe one day, go for it....

I would go for the Monster Box. You can sell in various quantities quickly depending on your needs. One 10 oz gold bar is one sell and done. and you have to find someone to sell to. in hard times 16 grand may be difficult to come up with.
From a long term investment perspective I think either will do just fine.

I would not buy either but if I had to pick: Monster Box. My choice would be a group of 10oz silver bars at spot. ASE are nice but name brand bars in "quantity" would be my route.

Comes down to strategy: buy and hold forever? Go for that awesome gold bar! Traders and speculators? Go for that awesome monster box! Quote: From a long term investment perspective I think either will do just fine. Agreed!

Depends on your circumstances.
Two desert islands, one with a box of food on it, and the other with a box of gold on it. You are a shipwreck victim. Which one would you swim to?

Personally, I'd be more confident that a Monster Box (with original mint straps intact) would be genuine than I'd be with a gold bar that could easily be faked. I just keep reading more and more horror stories about counterfeit coins and bullion being produced in China (and elsewhere) and spending that much money makes me very cautious.

monster. ox most likely....
if you needed money you could easily break it up and sell it. the gold bar... not so much. Finding a buyer for a role, of silver eagles is much much easier then a 10 oz gold bar lol
