mint.ca confirms that their pure silver Titanic coins are officially sold out. Fortunately, APMEX picked up a few for sale. Unfortunately, the shipping cost makes the deal a little less attractive.

APMEX is getting on board, pardon the pun...

Looks like decent prices minus that always ugly APMEX shipping costs, as I have little doubt in my mind these Canadian Maple leaf privy Titanic will appreciate fast.....

No kidding. And just think, there are only 50 monster boxes of this coin in the entire world. That's it! I bet they move fast.

That's kinda odd. I can't remember Canada re-releasing a privy and simply changing the year before this one. Wonder if that will increase or dilute the value of the previous Titanic privy?

I guess you're referring to the 1998 Silver Maple with Titanic privy? IMHO, I don't think there's any reason for concern. The 2012 coin is *the* 100th anniversary minting of the actual sinking which distinguishes it from the earlier coin. Which coin will ultimately prove to be more popular with collectors? Who knows. I do, however, suspect there'll be plenty of interest in both.

The 1998 Titanic privy is in the safe so I can't say for sure but I believe the privy mark is identical. That's a first in Canada privy history, AFAIK.

I knew this was gonna be a hot coin as soon as I as spotted it....

Asking one price is one thing, but it will not be long after these sell out, that the majority of the silver bullion collectors break down an start paying 80 to 100 for this piece....

I'm still not clear on the reason behind the 1998 privy coin. That would have been the 86th anniversary of the Titanic disaster. The only reason I can fathom is the minting was in response to James Cameron's blockbuster 1997 film. Yes? No? Maybe?

I can't help but think that plans for the 2012 Titanic privy coin must have in the works for decades.

You guessed it. I doubt the timing was coincidental.

Just checked the APMEX site...they've recently added a "100th Anniversary of the Titanic (April 15th)" category.

APMEX currently has in stock and ready for sale both the 1998 and 2012 Canadian Silver Maple Titanic privy coins. Best of all, the privy marks are NOT identical. The 2012 privy mark is slightly different in that the ship itself is slightly modified and the stacks have billowing smoke showing the ship to be "underway." Nice touch!
