Wow. Just finished perusing the privy list and some of those prices are just silly. I noticed they didn't have the D-Day, VJ-Day, or VE-Day privy coins in stock. I can't image what they'd try and get for those, being the mintage is smallish. No F12 privy, either. Another fairly rare one. This one took the cake, though. $150? I have one with COA #30. Wonder what they'd offer me?

$150 for a hologram maple leaf? I just got one several weeks ago for $45. the case is pretty cool, it reminds me of some soap case I used...
I wonder how much they would charge for a tulip maple leaf if they had some. mintage 3,500 the rarest

That was a good deal, SilverBug. If I still cannot find a good dealer out here, I may seriously consider to move.
Speaking of rarity, the orange box might carry a decent premium. There are only 50 of them after all. haha

Amaths: don't put your money on that orange box too early, I believe the next wild life bullion coins will come in orange boxes. it's not cost efficient to just make 50 boxes

Thanks, SilverBug. I don't collect plastics. I might consider it if one day the mint decides to serialize and imprint them, as well. :)

I'm not a big fan of slabbed coins, especially with grades under MS69. I'd much rather take my chances with an ungraded coin that looks good. There are several BIN coins at or below the price you have in mind. $69 might be a better bet, IMO. But take heart. Auction buyers can be wildly gullible at times, if you go that route when selling yours. Check out this auction from less than a month ago: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...p=true&rt=nc

But don't forget that there has never been a 70 grade in NGC/PCGS for the 1998 Silver Canadian Maple Leaf, so a MS69 is like the 70 in this coin and goes for over $100++

Oh..that's a good question to ask? does anyone think the 2012 Canadian Maple Leaf - Titanic Privy will have a graded 70 ? the 1998 Maple Leaf - Titanic Privy never had a 70 grade in NGC/PCGS, There is a chance the 2012 Maple Leaf - Titanic Privy coin may never see a 70 grade in this coin because it would be worth over $1,000++ if there are very few.

Interesting points about never having a 1998 MS-70 Maple leaf, and good to know. Just goes to show what sticklers NGC an PCGS are an why they are so respected an trusted by coin enthusiasts....

Right, but out of the 26,000 or so, how may have actually been graded at all? I've seen several of them that passed the eyeball test and seemed to be in the MS69 range. The one I have "looks" perfect. Just an opinion, of course, but I'm personally not into slabs. I know they're popular with some investors, especially the MS70 coins (generally speaking). But I have never noticed a seriously large difference in bids for coin below MS69 than unslabbed ones. Just a personal observation. Regardless, good luck with your sales. I love the coins and they may never be hotter than right now, with it being the 100th anniversary of the sinking and all.

I just check the PCGS POP report for ALL Maple Leafs with Privy marks... I think I am reading it right, but PCGS HAS NEVER given a 70 grade to any Maple Leaf with Privy mark! 2012 Maple Leaf - Titanic Privy will never have a 70 grade no matter how good it looks, same as 1998 Maple Leaf - Titanic. That is why the 68 grade looks so nice.

Quote: I just check the PCGS POP report for ALL Maple Leafs with Privy marks... I think I am reading it right, but PCGS HAS NEVER given a 70 grade to any Maple Leaf with Privy mark! That's very interesting, isn't it? I wonder what the rationale is behind this? The RCM put out a ton of privy coins over the years. It's amazing that none of them ever rated an MS70. Is it something about the SML design process itself? I'm going to ask the people over on the Canada NCLT forum if they have any insight into the reason behind the tough grading on privy coins and see if they can shed some light on this.
