Here's a reasonably scare commemorative medal struck by the US Mint -- an 1875 Battle of Lexington Centennial in bronze.

The medal was struck by the Mint in bronze, silver and gold with mintages of 200, 100 and 4, respectively. The bronze medals sold for $1.00, the silver medals for $3.00 and the gold medals for $30.00. They tend to go for a bit more today!

The obverse depicts a Minuteman circa 1775 encircled by the Samuel Adams quote "What a glorious morning for America". The simple reverse features only commemorative inscriptions.

The example shown here is a nice uncirculated example with rich chocolate brown coloring and clean surfaces.

Enjoy!

I have a bronze one slabbed by NGC. It cost me a pretty penny but I had to have it since I grew up in Lexington. I wonder how many hands it has passed through since being bought 137 years ago...and now it's back home just a few miles from the battle green.
