Someone is trying to sell this to me. He said its a gold coin. Canadian. Slightly larger than a twoonie. Is this canadian and is it pure gold? Anyone have any ideas?

I dont find a coin like that listed in Krause ,, this looks like two different coins,

all of canadas gold coins list the pureness and weight .

I have never seen it . I might Be wrong though. the 1st looks like it might be.
But based on the pics I wouldn't unless the price was right

I don't even think That's a coin.
It has no denomination, and no Queen portrait.

The pics are not good enough to read all the inscription and make a search, but as far as I can see, there's a "celebration 2000" and " Ontario" so it may be a medal for some community there.

all I can get out of it is Ontario and celabration 2000.

And RenaL brought up a good point no effigy of QE II.

In order for it to be a coin/legal tender, it must have a denomination and the picture of the monarch on it. So, no, it is not a coin. It is some sort of medal/medallion/token. Hope that helps. Also, if it was gold, it would state the purity of the gold somewhere on it.

I think it says: "Millennium Celebration 2000 - ?, Ontario". Is that possible?

Here is an example of a Canadian Gold coin. Notice that it clearly states both the denomination and the purity, and it also has the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
