Hello,

I'm wondering if I would be able to buy one of these. Specifically the 1981 set. Does anyone know how much the average cost is? Would it be affordable if I was on a $30.00 budget? Is it just the uncirculated coins from 1981 P,D,S in the Mint set packaging?

If anyone can respond please let me Know.

Thank You,

Eric

The 81 set might cost you a little more than $30. The completed auctions on ebay are around $40. They are in the mint packaging and are P,D,& S.

If your primary interest is the coins then just buy the regular uncirculated mint set. It has all three of these coins plus the other circulating coinage from 1981 and is only $12.

The souvenir set carries a premium because it was very low mintage and it used to have a very high attrition. There are probably fewer than about 15,000 of these left and 100 times as many of the regular mint set.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
